Orem, Utah – March 26, 2008 – DigitalBridge’s DigitalSAMS™ Solution Adopted by 13 Utah School Districts, Allowing Secure, Comprehensive Student Information Sharing for Timely, Accurate Monitoring of Individual Student Academic Progress
Provo School District the Latest to Utilize the Revolutionary Learning Solution
Utah schools are leading the nation in finding solutions to the universal problem of how to improve individual student academic performance.
In 2003, a Utah congressional delegation earmarked a grant of approximately $600,000 for the Iron County School District located in Cedar City, Utah. The purpose of the grant was to help the district find new ways to improve individual student achievement through the use of technology to support the district’s innovative data-driven decision making initiative. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Utah’s senior Senator, working together with Congressman Jim Matheson (D-UT), the district’s congressional representative, helped the Iron County School District to secure the grant.
The district partnered with DigitalBridge of Orem, Utah, to develop DigitalSAMS™, Student Achievement Management System, an innovative software solution focused on aggregating both historical and current information around an individual student, allowing educators to inform individual instruction to improve a student’s academic achievement.
Provo, Utah School District is the most recent Utah school district to adopt DigitalBridge’s DigitalSAMS solution. Today five school districts use DigitalSAMS and another nine districts, a total of 13 of 40 Utah school districts, have signed up to use this revolutionary software solution. The solution allows educators, students, parents, administrators, and policy makers to gather, access, act on, share, and protect individual student achievement information. Educators can view information such as grades, attendance records, test scores, and formative assessment data for an individual student from a variety of different sources with point-and-click simplicity.
The power behind DigitalSAMS is the DigitalFusion™ Platform Solution’s ability to gather data from multiple data sources and structures, regardless of the platform or format, and display the data aggregated around an individual student profile. DigitalSAMS shares protected information across multiple databases and agencies while protecting the security, privacy, and integrity of individual student information based on policy rules implemented at the district level. “DigitalSAMS solves one of the most persistent problems plaguing our educators: the ability to access comprehensive, individualized student information in real-time to ensure timely intervention when a student needs help,” said Jim Johnson, Superintendent of the Iron County School District.
DigitalSAMS is deployed over existing legacy systems, eliminating the need to rip and replace those systems. This approach preserves and extends the life of prior investments made by school districts, while dramatically improving access to the individual student information required to improve academic performance.
Superintendent Terry Shoemaker of the Wasatch School District located in Heber City, Utah, is a strong proponent: “DigitalSAMS is the first solution we have found that enables us to gather complete information for an individual student and display that information to educators, administrators, and parents to help improve the student’s performance.”
Terry Pitts, President and CEO of DigitalBridge, stated, “We are honored to work with our representatives in Washington, D.C., and Utah school officials to provide the next generation of student achievement management tools for the benefit of Utah’s children.”
